"I'd have the S-tronic version myself (I am a little lazy when it comes to clutching)."

Then you probably shouldn't be driving at all.

Meh, it looks very bland. Also, no 4.2 V8.

Assuming I get a GTI in the future I'm going to have a tough time deciding between a DSG and a manual. On the one hand, I hate having a transmission shift for me and I really miss driving a manual, but on the other hand a dual clutch transmission is just so much damn fun to flick between gears.

I've put a quarter million miles on manual cars in the last 12 years, and I live in SoCal. No plans on ditching a clutch pedal any time soon.

Living near DC, It's not a problem for me. It feels natural, and I personally feel like no extra effort is going into it. More instinctual than anything, I'm super glad that I learned to drive on a manual car.

There's a reason why GTIs have such a high manual take rate. Because it's the better choice.

The DSG is great in full-throttle conditions. The manual is better in everything else, especially in the fun to drive factor. Go test drive one on a windy road where you can rip off a few 2-3-4 and back sequences. It will be an obvious choice.

I'll just have to try them both out, but it was SO much fun playing with the paddles on an RS5 I got to drive.

I fee ya, my Wife has an '08 GTI with the DSG and I've got a '12 WRX... best of both worlds although her GTI is sooo much nicer inside than mine and it's 4 years older!

See, the issue is here, that it was written by David Booth.
I have nothing against most of his work, but I don't enjoy most of the reviews he posts of sports cars.

It just makes him come off as lazy by saying that he's lazy when it comes to manual transmissions. It's not even that time consuming or hard. Unless he has a valid medical reason, I see no cause for him to say that.

I dont really blame him. I dont need a clutch on my DD. I hate clutching in traffic.

THAT SAID: I dont think I could ever buy a motorcycle without a clutch lever. I rode a scooter once...it was so WEIRD. I always pull the back brake because I was reaching for the clutch.

CVT bikes are WEEEIRD, like the Aprilla Mano or what's-it-called.

I think thats a DCT.

I rode a BMW C600GT. I kept looking for something to do with me feet. it was insanely weird to not be able to hug the bike with my knees in the corners. I didnt use the back brake when braking unless i was pulling in the 'clutch' GAH I get hebi-ba0be-giibbies just thinking about it. *shudders* Completely fucked with my idea of riding
